Introduction to Japanese Boro and Sashiko In-Person

We’ll discuss the history of Japanese boro, which are very old textiles of the lower classes, and sashiko, which is the stitching method used to extend the life of boro textiles. Both are now considered art forms and the very beginnings of Japanese quilting. After discussion, participants can practice sashiko stitching, together. Targeted for ages 14 and up. Limit 12. Registration required. This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.
