Author Presentation: "Sister Lumberjack" In-Person
Pequot Lakes Author, Candace Simar, will present a book talk about “Sister Lumberjack” (North Star Press of St. Cloud 2024) at the Pierz Library. In 1993, Widow Solvieg Rognaldson faces financial ruin. She finds work as a cook at Starkweather Timber in Northern Minnesota though she feels too old to start over. There she meets a lumberjack with bottle fever and a jolly Benedictine nun who sells hospital tickets to the men at the camps. Their unique friendship send their lives in new directions. This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota's Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.
