 This class is based on the book Magic Trash by J.H. Shapiro. Students will learn about the African American artist Tyree Guyton and how his art is influenced by his desire to transform his Detroit neighborhood into a place of beauty and art. Participants will recreate one of Guyton's most famous pieces, using paint, scraps, pastels and recycled materials. This class is perfect for those who love to create, move around and explore different media to make art. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend and create along with their child. For ages 5 to 12. Limit 25. Registration required. A Legacy event.
