What was the first law enacted based solely on the color of one's skin? What did early Americans think of slavery? How does this history affect us today? In this three month enhanced book club, we'll try to answer these questions together by doing a deep dive into the archives alongside Black Studies scholar and Minnesota native Jenny Skoog. We'll read two slave narratives and insert ourselves into the times in which they lived, giving a more robust understanding of early American history.
