Evidence of V: A Novel in Fragments, Facts, and Fictions." When author Sheila O'Connor attempted to uncover buried secrets
about her family, she discovered the little-known history of incarcerating adolescent girls from throughout Minnesota for "immorality" at the MN Home School for Girls in Sauk Centre. In an
ambitious blend of fact and fiction, including family secrets, documents from the era, and case files, O’Connor tells the riveting story of V, a talented fifteen-year-old singer in 1930s Minnesota who aspires to be a star. This riveting work brings to light this silenced story, which affected thousands of Minnesota families. Hear about this research, her ongoing work to bring this
history to light, and how this lost past remains relevant to girls and women today. She will also sign copies of her new novel.
